Nankana Sahib, Pakistan – Preparations for the much-anticipated Vaisakhi Festival 2025 are underway with full enthusiasm and cultural spirit. This major Sikh religious event in Pakistan is expected to attract over 20,000 pilgrims, making it one of the largest Sikh gatherings in the region.
A high-level meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Tasleem Akhtar Rao in Nankana Sahib to assess the festival’s administrative and logistic arrangements. Key officials from WAPDA, Auqaf Department, Additional Deputy Commissioners, and Assistant Commissioners were present to ensure coordinated efforts.
Prominent Sikh leader Sardar Surjeet Singh Kanwal, member of the Punjab Advisory Council for Minority Affairs and Human Rights, along with other community representatives, attended the meeting. They appreciated the Pakistani government’s efforts in organizing a safe and welcoming environment for international pilgrims.
According to the district administration’s spokesperson, the Vaisakhi Festival in Nankana Sahib will now officially commence on April 12, instead of the earlier date of April 10, and will continue till April 15, 2025. This adjustment was made to enhance the visitor experience and safety protocols.
Over 7,000 Sikh yatris (pilgrims) from India, the UK, Canada, and other countries are expected to arrive on April 12. In total, the administration anticipates more than 20,000 participants during the four-day religious festival.
Comprehensive arrangements are being finalized for accommodation, transportation, security, and medical assistance. The event reflects Pakistan’s commitment to religious tourism, especially in promoting Sikh heritage sites and interfaith harmony.
The Vaisakhi Festival holds immense historical and spiritual importance for the Sikh community worldwide, and Nankana Sahib – the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji – stands at the heart of this celebration. Pakistan continues to play a pivotal role in opening its doors to Sikh pilgrims with love, respect, and peace.
